I wandered lonely as a cloud*...

A trip to Coads daffodil farm yesterday. Located in a gorgeous hidden green valley that I never knew existed. There were hundreds of gorgeous daffodils and tulips in full bloom.
And a room with dozens of varieties displayed if you want to order bulbs. I went the easy option and ordered 100 mixed bulbs to be delivered in March. That's a lot of holes to dig.
But if it eventually means a field of flowers like this each spring,
it will be worth it.
* apologies to Mr Wordsworth, but I couldn't think of a better title...

Foraged

Have you ever eaten wild mushrooms?  So good.  I used to eat 'em on the mainland.  One of the highlights of autumn, they were often available at the  Farmers Markets.  Or we'd rug up and make the trek to Oberon, to go foraging ourselves.  So much autumnal fun.  When we arrived in Tasmania, I'd often ask where to find forest mushrooms, and most people looked horrified at the thought. No one knew anything about eating found mushrooms - Eew!  Seems the few people who do eat them, keep their foraging and the location a well guarded secret.

So I was thrilled when a work colleague presented me with this treasure trove of Saffron Milk Caps he'd foraged.  The botanical name is lactarius deliciosus, and deliciosus they are.  Quickly fried in butter, parsley and garlic and served with a chunk of crusty no knead bread.

The perfect savoury antidote to a chocolate filled weekend.  My colleague did very kindly divulge their location, under a cone of silence, and I'm sworn to secrecy, otherwise, he WILL have to kill me. I'll be heading to this secret spot next time it rains, on a foraging stealth mission myself, well, with a little helper or two.  Can't wait!

Cupcake dance

Another successful Mothers  Market finished and I'm pooped!   Hundreds of cupcakes baked, sold, eaten and enjoyed.

I love being at the market, it's so gratifying watching people's reactions to cupcakes.... "Oh how gorgeous"....."Aren't they sweet" .... "Ooh I must have some."  They bring a smile to everyone's face. But the ultimate is when a customer does the cupcake dance, which happens after taking a bite, and they feel compelled to dance on the spot, while moaning mouthfuls of mmm...good...ooh... That is super special.

I spent all my money on the beautiful things from the other stall holders.  Bat cape from lovely Angie, brooch and dress from Sarah,  honey from Yves, a card from Cathy. So many talented people in Tasmania.  All super lovely.
